Coopers was established in 1982 by father and son, Ron and Martin Cooper and was originally located at 30 New Union Street. The following years saw a period of sustained growth with a move to larger premises at number 22 in 1985 and the addition of John Kenney to the partnership in 1989. The acquisition of adjoining premises at number 20 in 1998 enabled the two offices to be combined and totally refitted to an extremely high standard. Then in 1999 John Payne was appointed an associate partner.

The most exciting development was in 2000 when Coopers merged with Peter Dick and Tony Twigger of Mason Newey, which had been established as long ago as 1911, and Malcolm Margerrison and Howard Townsend of M&T Associates. At the same time John Payne joined the full partnership. The enlarged partnership blossomed over the next four years, an example of the further expansion being the opening late in 2003 of an office in the Earlsdon district of Coventry at 221 Albany Road, headed by John Payne. Subsequently the partnership incorporated and between them, the seven directors, five of whom are Chartered Surveyors, now draw on a wealth of experience of over 200 years. Around that time, the company proudly achieved ISO9000 Quality Assurance status, re-affirming our commitment to excellence in customer service, further enhancing Coopers’ enviable reputation.

The residential sales, land and new homes team comprises Martin Cooper, John Kenney, Howard Townsend and John Payne with Peter Dick in charge of the survey centre. At the beginning of 2005, the residential lettings centre, run by Tony Twigger and Malcolm Margerrison, relocated into the company’s main premises, placing all disciplines under one roof at 20/22 New Union Street.
